One weekend my youth group had a 30 hour famine, we didn’t eat for 30 hours! We each had a card that had a picture and a story on it about a sick or hungry child in Africa or Zambia. It was hard not to eat for 30 hours, imagine dying from it! Hundreds of children die from starvation or sickness a second! I take advantage of all my things and I don’t want to anymore I want to change. When I saw videos of children in Africa and Zambia fighting for their lives I looked at how skinny they were and it turns out one of the child’s leg was skinnier than a plastic water bottle, yet she still smiled. When I fasted I felt fine even though the fast ended at 6:00pm. I started feeling sick and dizzy at about 3:00pm, but I powered through it by drinking tons of water! But there is no way I could power through that everyday when my life depended on it! Some of the things that they eat in Zambia and Africa for health and nutrition we tried out. One was called plumpy nut, it is a mixture of a bunch of blends, nuts and peanut butter. The other one was called CSB and that is a corn mix blend made into a soupy pourage. When I was there the youth group was talking about being greedy. And my youth pastors read a verse out of the Holy Bible it said… (I’m breaking it down for you though.)
A wealthy man approached Jesus and said, “Oh holy one, I have come to enter your kingdom.”
“Why do you call me the holy one?” Jesus answered.
“Because you and God said to always obey you, do not steal, lie, or cheat, and always obey your parents. All of these I have kept since I was a boy.” Jesus looked at him and loved him
“Yes you have obeyed all commandments but one thing is missing, collect all of your things and give all of it away to the poor.” The man walked away with despair because he was a man of great wealth.
“It is as easy for a camel to go into the eye of the needle as it is for a man to enter the kingdom of God.” Jesus said to his disciples.
I still don’t know what any of that means but I know that I need to find out. There has to be a reason our youth group leaders made us read that same passage 3 times in a row. I wish I knew because I have read so many verses and passages in the Bible that I thought meant nothing but I was wrong, all of them each have an individual meaning and reason to be in this Holy book. And I pointed this out because I think it is more than a passage I think I am meant to know it. The reason it is different from all of the other passages and verses in the Bile is because it applies to me in a lot of ways that I need to realize and change or keep the same. I wish that someone could tell me the true meaning of this special passage, I know what your thinking though, “Why doesn’t she just ask someone then?” Well the answer to that question is no, I’ve already tried that and I think it means more then the reason she exclaimed to me.
